Yamunotri Dham Yatra September 2025: Enthusiasm among devotees, journey started again
The route to the holy Yamunotri Dham, included in the Char Dham Yatra of Uttarakhand, has been reopened for devotees after two and a half months. Yamunotri Dham Yatra September 2025, which was disrupted for a long time due to heavy rains and landslides, has now started again. Devotees from the country and abroad are moving towards the Dham with enthusiasm to visit Mother Yamuna.
The journey was disrupted in the monsoon
On June 28, the Yamunotri Highway collapsed at three places in the Silai Band area. Due to this, the journey to the Dham was completely halted. During this, two workers were killed and many people went missing in the cloudburst incident. Apart from this, the bridge was washed away in Ojri and the temporary lake formed near Syanachatti also affected the route for a long time.
After continuous efforts, the team of NH and PWD worked on a war footing and partially restored the route. Now the pilgrims have to travel about five km on foot from Phoolchatti to Janakichatti, after which they can leave for the Dham.
Amazing enthusiasm seen among devotees
Even though the pilgrims have to cover extra distance, the faith and enthusiasm has not diminished. According to the administration, in the first two days of the start of the Yatra, more than 800 pilgrims left for Yamunotri Dham. On Tuesday, 805 devotees were sent forward from the checkpost.
NRI family came from America
This time in Yamunotri Dham Yatra September 2025, not only devotees from all over the country arrived, but a seven-member NRI family from America also came to visit the Dham. The Yamunotri Temple Committee welcomed them. The family members said that they are blessed to have received the blessings of Mother Yamuna.
Distance will be covered by buses and taxis
Deputy Superintendent of Police Barkot Devendra Negi said that pilgrims can come only till Kharadi by big buses. After this, they will have to reach Phoolchatti by local taxis or small vehicles. They will have to walk five km from Phoolchatti to Janakichatti and then cover a five km long track from there to the Dham.
Movement increased amidst weather challenges
Despite continuous rain and obstruction of the route, the faith of the devotees did not waver. Devotees are reaching the Dham by walking from Phoolchatti amidst the chants of Mother Yamuna. The hustle and bustle of devotees at Janakichatti, Krishnachatti, Naradchatti and other stops has once again increased the charm.
Administration's preparations and demands
The Yamunotri Temple Committee has demanded to improve the facilities in the Dham. Spokesperson Purushottam Uniyal said that the arrangements for mobile network, bathing ghats and toilets should be improved as soon as possible so that the pilgrims do not face inconvenience.
The pace of Chardham Yatra is increasing again
Helicopter services are gradually becoming normal in Yamunotri as well as Kedarnath Dham. Although flights are sometimes getting affected due to the weather, devotees are continuously coming to visit Mother Yamuna and Baba Kedar.
