Kedarnath Roapway Project: Kedarnath-Hemkund Sahib Ropway gets 6811 crore approval
There is great news for pilgrims. After a long wait, the Kedarnath Roapway Project and Hemkund Sahib Roapway Project has received the approval of the Union Cabinet. In a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a budget of Rs 6811 crore was approved for both the projects. These ropeway projects will now make the difficult trips to millions of devotees very easy and safe.
Kedarnath Roapway Project: 16 km journey now in just 36 minutes
To reach Kedarnath Dham, devotees will no longer have to climb 16 kilometers inaccessible. The Kedarnath Roapway Project will be 12.9 km long and about Rs 4081 crore will be spent on it.
So far, devotees take 8 to 9 hours to reach the Kedarnath temple from Gaurikund. This distance has to be decided by walking, pony, palanquin or helicopter. But after the ropeway, this journey will be completed in just 36 minutes.

Hemkund Sahib Roapway Project: 21 km hard journey will be easy
The cabinet has also flagged off Hemkund Sahib Roapway Project. This ropeway will be 12.4 km long and will cost around Rs 2730 crore on its construction.
Presently, devotees have to travel 21 km from Govindghat to Hemkund Sahib, which is extremely difficult and taking time. After the ropeway, this distance will be very easy and convenient for the devotees.

Monocable Detachable Gondola (MDG) technology from Govindghat to Ghangharia (10.55 km) will be ropeway.

Tricable detachable gondola (3s) technology will be used from Ghangharia to Hemkund Sahib (1.85 km).

Every hour 1100 passengers from one direction will be able to travel.

About 11,000 devotees will be able to reach Hemkund Sahib through the ropeway throughout the day.
